TM5 Annual Meeting 2019

The TM5 Partners- the Japan Patent Office (JPO), the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA), the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), the Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO), and the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) – held the 8th Annual Meeting on Dec. 9-10 in Maihama, Chiba, Japan. The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) participated as an observer at the meeting. At the meeting TM5 Partners discussed 14 ongoing projects as well as possible new projects regarding “E-Commerce” and “Risk Management” which the EUIPO presented. Each project and the possible new projects will continue to be discussed at the next meeting.

The Partners agreed that USPTO will begin acting as Secretariat at the conclusion of the 2019 Annual Meeting and will serve in that role through the 2020 TM5 Annual Meeting.

TM5 Mid-term Meeting 2019

The TM5 Partners held the midterm meeting in Boston on May 18, taking advantage of the INTA Annual Meeting. At the meeting, TM5 Partners discussed 15 ongoing projects. Also, as possible new projects, EUIPO presented “E-Commerce” and “Risk Management”, and KIPO presented “Impact Analysis of the Usage of the Trademarks in VR / AR”.

In July, the TM5 Working Level Meeting will be held in China as a preparatory meeting for the annual meeting. Details of each project and the possible new projects will continue to be discussed at the Working Level Meeting.

This year’s TM5 Annual Meeting will be held in Japan from December 9th (Mon) to 11th (Wed) at the Sheraton Grande Tokyo Bay Hotel. We are planning a user session on the 11th. Details will be announced later.
