TM5 ID List– Launch of dedicated search tool
A dedicated search tool (the “TM5 ID List search tool”) will be launched shortly to facilitate searches of the shared ID database – known as the TM5 ID List – that was developed through close collaboration between TM5 partner offices. The TM5 ID List is a compilation of approximately 14,000 (and growing!) pre-approved IDs (descriptions of goods or services that are associated with the trademarks for which protection is sought). Applicants can trust that IDs found in the TM5 ID List will be accepted at all TM5 partner offices, increasing the predictability and consistency of decisions and legal certainty among these offices.
This search tool was created to promote the use of the common IDs compiled on the TM5 ID List. By providing user-friendly access to a dedicated search tool, the TM5 partners seek to facilitate maximum usage of the TM5 ID List. While the current official list is available in English, efforts are currently underway to expand the number of translations of IDs in other languages accepted by select TM5 partners (Chinese, Japanese, Korean and all 23 EU official languages).
The TM5 ID List search tool will be available on the TM5 website within the next few weeks, and an official announcement will be made on the release day on the same web site. A link to the TM5 website can be found on the webpages of all TM5 partners, too.
