The 2025 edition of the TM5 IT support expert meeting was held online on 14 July. This yearly gathering is a forum for TM5 Partners to share and discuss the newest tools and strategies for enhancing trademark examination processes.
The CNIPA shared details about their chatbot, formality check, classification and translation tool, drafting assistant and image search tools. The JPO presented on their AI search for prior graphic trademarks and word trademarks, as well as an ongoing pilot project to develop an AI tool to support examination of good and services. The EUIPO presented on its pre-assessment tools, early case management systems, and collaborative co-creation platforms. The KIPO shared the latest about their AI based trademark figurative and verbal name search and plans on classification. The USPTO shared plans on developing AI tools and planned IT activities from goods and services, image search, evidence gathering to detecting fraudulent activities.
The Partners collectively explored how private sector AI advancements could benefit their operations, particularly focusing on identifying conflicting prior marks, improving classification accuracy, and enhancing proofreading capabilities.
