The Japan Patent Office (JPO) hosted the TM5 Midterm meeting on 23 April at the headquarters of the JPO in Tokyo. The TM5 Partners welcomed the re-vamped TM5 website and took note of the launch of the TMview user survey to improve access to trade mark data. They also discussed possible venues of next year’s Bad Faith seminar and topics for the next Joint Workshop. Progress has been made on the last remaining non-traditional (colour and sound mark) studies and the overview of appeal procedures and cases. The partners further clarified the scope of exchange for the trade marks in virtual space project. The partners will re-convene at the working level on 9 September to follow up on joint projects and discuss IT and classification issues.
The TM5 Partners also will host a TM5 User Session (19 May) and a joint workshop on the likelihood of confusion (20 May) in the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta.
